Print FAQs

How much for a logo?

It depends. Graphic Standards and Practices recommends a price relative to the size of the company and its annual billing. IBM would be more expensive than, let's say, Vito's Pizza down on the corner, but since IBM isn't calling me back about their logo, let's talk about what can be done for your budget.

I have an idea for a logo and just need someone to create it.

That can be complicated. When you envision something in your mind, only you can see it exactly as you want it to be. The best I or anyone else will be able to do is get as close as possible. This gets overly time-consuming as we go back and forth with warm or cold attempts to hit the mark. Time equals money of course, and things can quickly get out of scope and over your budget. If you are prepared to be open-minded as to what you get from me, I'll give it a shot.

I drew the logo I want on a cocktail napkin and just need someone to clean it up

I can't wait to see it!

In what format do you deliver your files?

In the beginning, I will probably send you a selection of JPEGS via email. These are considered rough, of low-resolution, and usually reflect work-in-progress. Together with your feedback on my work, you and I bring the concept to life and begin implementing the final print-ready art.

For most print jobs, I build the final art in Adobe InDesign. I use the latest version or something very near it, and generate a high-resolution PDF which I send to you or the printer. I can also deliver the packaged folder with all the raw files if preferred.

If you or your printer have other requirements, I will do whatever is needed.

Do you know any good printers?

Yes, but there are lots of good printers... and some incredibly inept ones, too. Often, a printer is only as good as the art he is given.

I have recurring work needed on a monthly or quarterly basis- can you give me a deal?

You bet! I'd love to help out.

Just ideas, no art please.

No problem. I can work on my own or with a copywriter- yours or mine.

Can you work with my team?

Yes. Your place, my place, or somewhere in-between, anytime.

Help! I have an emergency and need something overnight!

The coffee's on.. call me anytime.
